Baby bird hatches from egg in man's hand

Scientist studying blue tits captures the moment a bird's egg hatches in the palm of his hand

A Polish professor has filmed the moment a tiny blue tit chick slowly emerges from its shell as he held it in his hand.
The scientist from Jagiellonian University was studying the spring mating habits of blue tits
when the birth took place on Sweden's Gotland island in May.
The completely bald little bird takes a while to shake off its shell. It will now by reared in an incubator by reserachers who will monitor its progress.
Baby blue tits grow rapidly once they hatch and are able to flap their wings at approximately 14 days. They usually fledge about five days later.
